24 March 2011 21:01

From Palm Sunday to Resurrection Sunday is the Easter week in Spain and it is the most important celebration of the year. Most towns have their own celebrations and many of it´s population are involved in the mourning of the last week of the life of Jesus. You can see sculptures of Jesus in different happenings from the arrest to His burial.
On huge floats saints are carried on the shoulders of men. These floats can be huge and carried by many persons. In Seville it is said there are about 100 processions and many can stretch for miles.

Many foreigners being on the Costa del Sol for Easter their first time have been surprised by the dresses that many in the western world see as the dresses used by the KKK. However these robes and cone shaped hoods symbolize grief and repentance

This is a tradition that shall not be missed if you have not seen it. Come to see this Easter in Malaga, Marbella or Estepona and You will have a memory for life. You will however find that accommodation can be much harder to get in some cities in Andalucia and Spain during this week as some people book already a year in advance.
