Great Siege and WWII tunnels

In this our second discover Gibraltar series we will explain a little about the tunnels in the Rock of Gibraltar. The Great Siege tunnels has got its name from one of the many sieges Gibraltar has lived. The Great Siege lasted from 1779 until 1783. These tunnels were made by man with simple tools and gun powder to create better angels for the cannons to fire.

The Second World War tunnels was made as an attack on the rock was highly probable and a defence system was created as tunnels and fortress inside the rock. In 2005 these tunnels have opened for the public. Put on some nice walking shoes and discover these 2 tunnel systems inside the rock of Gibraltar.
